'The Walking Dead': Mid-season finale called 'breath taking' and 'heartbreaking'

Fans of “The Walking Dead” were not disappointed with the mid-season finale. Although it might not have ended as many would have hoped, it kept most fans on the edge of their seats. The mid-season finale of "The Walking Dead," which aired on AMC December 2, was called both “breath taking” and “heartbreaking” by fans.

Meghan, the little girl that was replacing Penny in the Governor's mind and heart, was killed. Although she was bitten by a walker, her bite was unlike anything seen before. The walker came up out of the ground and bit the little girl. Her mother, Lilly, than drove the bitten Meghan to the Governor on the battlefield where he shot her in the head – in plain view of the grieving mother.

“I was shocked when I saw that hand come up out of the ground,” Lisa Maxwell, a fan of “The Walking Dead” from Oklahoma City, said. “I thought she was opening a door to a cellar or something. That walker was buried. I screamed when I saw it.”

In a twist, the Governor was also killed. While fighting with Rick, Michonne put her sword through his chest. Instead of finishing him, the warrior left him to suffer and turn – much like the way he left Milton to turn on Andrea. Lilly then shot the Governor. It is unknown if her shot was to the head so it is possible he will return for the second half of the season as a walker.

“It was breath taking to see Michonne's sword go through his chest,” Dayna Willis, a fan of “The Walking Dead” from Warr Acres, said. “I gasped, thinking of all the hatred she felt for him because of what he did to Andrea and everyone else. I hope he turns and she makes another pet of him.”

Tears were shed by fans of “The Walking Dead” when they saw the Governor slit Hershel's throat with a sword. This blow didn't kill the “moral compass” and father figure of the group. He managed to roll away from the flying bullets. Despite his last attempt to live through the walker apocalypse, the Governor found him and decapitated him.

“I saw [Hershel's death] coming,” Lorene Simms, a fan of “The Walking Dead” from Mustang, said. “That didn't make it any easier. It was heartbreaking for me. I love Hershel. He was the heart and soul of the series. It will never be the same for me.”

The mid-season finale of “The Walking Dead” was quite the episode. Fans could not be disappointed in this action-packed episode. Although many did not like the fact that both the Governor and Hershel died, it certainly left them wondering what would be in store for the group of walker apocalypse survivors in the second half of season four.
