In Great Falls, Mont. the Walking Dead became more than just a television show on Feb. 11, 2013 as their local news station began broadcasting a message stating that the dead are rising and attacking people. Fans of the Walking Dead series are known to think about what their lives would be like if a zombie type apocalypse actually happened and for those watching KRTV it seemed as though it was taking place.
Of course, the zombie apocalypse in Great Falls turned to be a hoax. The Montana Television Network has said that hackers broke into their Emergency Alert System of their Great Falls affiliate KRTV and its CW station on Monday, which caused all the commotion. KRTV made a statement on their website saying that the hackers broadcast that "dead bodies are rising from their graves" across several Montana counties. The alerts continued to say that the bodies were "attacking the living" and were warning people not to "approach or apprehend these bodies as they are extremely dangerous."
The television network has said that there is clearly no actual emergency and that its engineers are investigating the situation. According to the Great Falls Tribune the hoax alert caused at least four people to call the police to see if it was true.
