The Walking Dead - after season one ends, no season two until...next October

The first season of the miraculous series The Walking Dead is only three episodes in meaning that it is already half over because AMC only originally called for six episodes. Recently it was revealed that a full second season of 13 new episodes was already approved by AMC meaning more zombie apocalypse. Now the bad news.

As is being stated by The Hollywood Reporter, the second season won't begin until October of 2011.

It appears as if AMC really was really happy with the way their annual "Fright Fest" horror movie marathon promoted the show leading up to the Halloween premiere. That is the time when AMC runs pretty much non-stop horror movies for the two weeks before the haunted holiday and it brings in a larger audience then usual.

They simply believe that it will once again serve a deeper purpose by getting fans and newcomers excited for the second season of The Walking Dead. While this isn't entirely in cement yet, it is very possible.

Forgive me for saying this, but do they not truly believe their own hype? The Walking Dead is pulling in massive ratings and is one of the most talked about shows on all of television. Every single episode is even better then the next and not only do we get a severely shortened first season but then have to wait a whole year for the second?

I complain like I wouldn't end up watching it even if they made me wait four more years. BUT...please don't.

When it comes to TV, Danny isn't really picky about what graces his screen. Crime TV, the History Channel, sports, Ghost Hunters, House, reality television, the Food Network, Comedy Central, or the Cartoon Network...it really doesn't matter to him because he's going to sit back and enjoy it....

Wow! A whole year?! Good things come to those who wait? They could still do October, but throw people a bone in between for pete's sake.

AMC better have some awesome features when they release the season one DVD because waiting a whole year is a long time!

I loved that AMC showed the 1st 2 episodes beginning at 8:00. As it is - I can never stay awake for the full 10pm episode. I lasted until 10:48 last night though :-)

I seriously hope they don't make us wait a full year before season two. Both my bf and I were floored when we heard last episode that there was only three more episodes, and nowww we find we have to wait a year! Like comeee onn guys, at least aim for march or something then show the 12 episodes and go again in october for season three, and actaully have a proper season, so we can wait until the next october.

TV is all about momentum. Making people wait an entire year after only a six episode season is just going to kill the momentum of the show. It's a good show with strong ratings so far, but it won't have built the cult of a Lost or a Battlestar Galactica after only six hours. Waiting a year and expecting it to maintain any kind of buzz is a serious mistake. It's unfortunate that the execs who make these kinds of dumb decisions never seem to be the ones who end up paying for them.

It will most likely take that long or close to get it ready I was an extra on TWD S1 and we started in May and went til August for 6 episodes. So 13 episodes and post production will take about 6 months or more.We were told to expect to start about March if picked up for season 2 so it could be a little sooner than Halloween but not by much.

If every episode were better than the next, then they'd be getting worse with time. A blog worth reading should be written well. Suckass.
