Easily one of the most anticipated yacht shows of the year, the Monaco Yacht Show is celebrating their 23rd year, and fully expect to surpass last year’s impressive showing of sponsors and guests; this along with over one hundred of the most spectacular yachts on the water today. During these past two decades, they have watched the yachts progressively become bigger and better, and the technology combined with luxurious amenities today make for a number of over-the-top yachts showing this year.
Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show Gaëlle Tallarida said: “We deliver a social and business networking platform for the world’s top clientele interested in the niche superyacht market. Throughout its 23 editions, the Monaco Yacht Show has offered yacht owners, buyers and enthusiasts the very best that the world's boat builders, brokers and yachting professionals have to offer, in the unique setting of the Principality of Monaco and in a professional but festive atmosphere."
The impressive fleet last year included approximately forty new builds making their grand unveiling and overall, the more than one hundred yachts had an average length of 46.7 meters (153.2 feet). With the 2013 collection, it’s sure to attract billionaires from around the world, who are eager to see what will be unveiled this year. Regardless of how much money one might have, purchasing a yacht of this caliber is a big investment, and yacht shows such as this provide these buyers a single location to gather information on the builders, materials, amenities, technology and specialized customizations available today.
Managing Director Tallarida says, “In 2012 we opened the Upper Deck Lounge – 650m² of lounge areas with bar and restaurant, right inside the Yacht Show area.” This is a great addition to the already impressive event. Here you will find the official restaurant, along with the champagne bar and private areas set aside for meetings. Centrally located, this provides a quiet escape for these potential buyers to getaway and strategically plan their next purchase. For 2013, the luxury watch brand, Ulysse Nardin, will be celebrating their fifth year as the Official Sponsor, and have a fine exhibit displayed in the Upper Deck Lounge.
Always looking for additional ways to continue growing this international event's impact on the industry, Gaëlle Tallarida continues, “Now we are happy to announce the first Monaco Yacht Summit, the next step in expanding our mission to empower all involved in yachting to meet, talk and share experiences.” The inaugural Monaco Yacht Summit will take place September 24th and limited to only a select group of the main players in the yachting industry. This will provide a forum to openly discuss the many issues occurring within this very active industry as another way for the Monaco Yacht Show to further boost the luxury yachting sector and become the world's yachting capital.
This comes just after another monumental announcement earlier this year when the Principality of Monaco launched the “Monaco: Capital of Yachting” Commission. Chaired by Bernard d’Alessandri, the Commission has been set up with representatives from the Administration and the Sovereign Prince’s Cabinet, as well as several esteemed yachting professionals. “The Principality has considerable assets which we need to capitalize on to further Monaco’s international reputation. It is the fruit of a policy led by the late Prince Rainier III and perpetuated by the Sovereign Prince Albert II who, convinced of the necessity to preserve the environment, has added an ecological component through the La Belle Classe certification,” says Chairman Bernard d'Alessandri.
One cannot think of yachting destinations without Monaco being at the top of the list, and these events, summits and commissions will further establish this port city as the capital of yachting. This year, over 500 leading luxury companies will be showcasing their latest superyachts, along with every gadget, innovation, yacht tender and toy available today will combine with evenings of social events, cocktail parties and gala dinners to create yet again, an unmatched yachting event with the beauty of Monaco as the backdrop.
