Bob Marley may be gone but his spirit lives on with the Wailers, who made a stop at the Rev Room in Little Rock on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Original Wailer Aston “Family Man” Barrett has kept the reggae rolling for decades, and his newest incarnation of the band features two lead singers, Dwayne Danglin and Yvad.
The Wailers hit the stage at the Rev Room about 10:20, with a rare instrumental called “Cobra Style” before a spirited “So Much Trouble in the World.” The band consisted of Barrett, his two vocalists, two lovely backup vocalists, a guitarist, drummer and a keyboard player. The band had the crowd singing and dancing all night with Marley classics like “Is This Love,” “Stir it Up,” “Three Little Birds” and “Jammin.” During the song “Waiting in Vain” one of the background vocalists broke into a nice sounding piece of Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”
The band closed with the iconic song “One Love/People Get Ready,” which had the packed Rev Room singing along. They came back out for an encore, a high energy version of “Exodus.”
The Wailers will be touring all over the world the rest of the year. For more information, go to www.wailers.com.
