'The Voice': Season 6's top 3 finalists are revealed

Rascal Flatts opened “The Voice” results show tonight, May 13, with a performance of “Rewind.” Carson announced their new album was released today before asking this season’s remaining five finalists to join him on stage. He revealed the first artist through to next week’s finale was Jake Worthington.

Carson checked in with the coaches. Adam still stood by the risky performances last night from his team. Shakira was happy to see that America loves Kristen and would be over the moon if she made it into the finals. Usher felt the strategy for Josh (if he moved on) would be to stay consistent. Blake said he was so proud of Jake, he felt like his kid just graduated from high school.

Last season’s Team Christina finalist, Jacquie Lee, returned to the show to perform “Broken Ones,” her new single. Carson welcomed her back, and she said things had been crazy, but good crazy, since the show. She will be touring with Tessanne and Will from last season, along with Dia Frampton, this summer.

Will Champlin performed next, premiering his own debut single, “Eye of the Pyramid.” He told Carson he is working to get his album finished before he leaves to go on tour. Carson then brought this season’s remaining finalists on stage and announced that Josh Kaufman also made it to next week’s finals. That left Kristen, Kat, and Christina to sing for America’s Instant Save.

Last season’s winner, Tessanne Chin, performed “Everything Reminds Me of You.” Afterward, she told Carson a bit about all the people she worked with to make her album.

Kristen Merlin sang “Blown Away.” Blake said he always had a soft spot for Kristen, and it had been amazing to see what happened between her and Shakira. Shakira thought America should save Kristen because she is a story-teller that emotes every time she sings. She also thought everyone would recognize Kristen’s voice on the radio because she is so unique.

Kat Perkins chose another Carrie Underwood song: “Good Girl.” Usher said Kat always comes out swinging and is so comfortable – she electrified the audience and brought them to life. He also hated that she was there again and hoped she would make it through. Adam thought it was a miracle that Kat was still there, and he added that she wasn’t thinking about anything – she was just singing.

Christina Grimmie wrapped things up with “Apologize.” Adam said that if America would get Christina to the finals, she was going to win.

Carson asked Shakira why Kristen should move on. Shakira replied that Kristen represents everyone out there who is different, and she is making history by forcing people to open their minds and embrace and accept her for who she is. Adam said seeing Kat and Christina up there broke his heart, but he is so proud of the work she has done. He added they are two of the most talented, lovely people he has ever known.

With that, Carson revealed that America had instantly saved Christina Grimmie, sending her into the finals. That left Kat Perkins and Kristen Merlin as the two semi-finalists departing tonight.
