Carson Daly introduced the coaches and final three artists to kick off “The Voice” finale tonight, May 20. Carson explained that there was a glitch on iTunes last night, and fans were unable to find Josh Kaufman’s song, “Set Fire to the Rain.” As a result, the iTunes votes were removed, and he assured everyone that did not change the outcome of the show. One Republic performed “Love Runs Out.”
Carson went to the coaches. Adam said that regardless of whether or not Christina wins, she would have a record deal, because he would sign her to his label. Shakira said Jake’s newfound nuances with his voice, Josh’s new energy, and Christina’s insane upper register really stood out to her last night. Usher said if Josh wins, a new coach would win besides Adam and Blake, and the integrity of the show would stand. Blake said he and Adam would miss the hell out of Shakira and Usher, and all four coaches hugged.
Jake Worthington chose to perform with Kat Perkins, Kristen Merlin, Audra McLaughlin, Ryan Whyte Maloney, and Morgan Wallen for his bring back performance. The group took on Kenny Chesney’s “Summertime.”
Christina Grimmie performed “All of the Stars” with Ed Sheeran. Delvin, Jake Barker, Morgan, Patrick, and Stevie Jo joined together to sing “She’s Gone.” Justin Moore took the stage to perform “Let the Night Roll.” For his bring back performance, Josh asked T.J. Wilkins, Stevie Jo, and Sisaundra Lewis to sing “Am I Wrong.” Ed Sheeran then returned to the stage with “Sing.”
Jake Worthington joined Alabama and performed “Mountain Music.” Dani, Deja, Madilyn, M.J., and Tess sang “Umbrella.” Josh Kaufman joined Robin Thicke in performing his new single, “Get Her Back.” Tim McGraw sang “City Lights.” For her bring back performance, Christina Grimmie brought Jake Barker, Tess Boyer, and Bria Kelly back to sing Lorde’s “Team.” Coldplay performed their new single, “A Sky Full of Stars.”
Carson gathered the three finalists on stage to reveal this season’s winner. Each of them thanked their coaches before Carson got to business – he first announced Christina Grimmie finished in third place. He then revealed that Josh Kaufman was this season’s winner, meaning Jake Worthington finished in second place. Josh told Carson he was overwhelmed, happy, and relieved.
