Tonight, Dec. 17, all top 20 finalists reunited for The Voice Season Five finale. They kicked the show off with a performance of “Tonight Is The Night.”
Carson checked in with the coaches – Adam said he was feeling good and that the final three just put everything they had out there. Carson asked CeeLo to describe his very sparkly outfit, which he described as “disco balls,” and CeeLo went on to say the contestants had endured a long road to get there. Christina said it would be amazing to be the first female coach to win, but it had been an incredible journey and was great to reunite. Blake announced he had presents for all three coaches and thought the winner was down to one of the last three. (Clever).
Jacquie Lee brought Matthew, Caroline, Cole, and James back to sing “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Tessanne joined her own idol, Celine Dion, on stage and sang “Love Can Move Mountains,” and One Republic performed “I Live.”
Ray, Preston, Matthew, Nic, and Josh sang “Treasure.”
Will chose to bring back Jonny, Cole, Caroline Pennell, and Austin for a performance of “Wagon Wheel.”
Jacquie took the stage with Paramore to sing “Ain’t It Fun.”
Stephanie, Grey, Shelbie, Kat, Amber, and Tamara returned to the stage and sang Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You.”
The final three went on a backlot tour and were each given a Kia vehicle of their choosing.
Celine Dion and Ne-Yo performed their new collaboration, “Incredible.”
Will Champlin and Aloe Blacc performed “Wake Me Up.”
Tessanne brought James, Preston, Olivia, and Grey back for her bring back performance of “Hold On, I’m Comin’.”
Lady Gaga performed “Do What You Want,” off her new album, “Artpop.” Christina even joined her on stage. Lady Gaga explained she couldn’t refuse performing on the show, but she asked to collaborate with Christina. This was the first time the two had met, and Christina added that Lady Gaga is one of the most down-to-earth people she has met in the business.
Finally, it was time to reveal the winner – Jacquie, Will, and Tessanne gathered with Carson on stage, and Carson asked for their final comments. Jacquie told Christina she helped her become a better vocalist and person and thanked her. Will told Adam it had been an amazing journey to come all this way with Adam, and it had been an awesome ride. Tessanne thanked Adam for turning around and choosing her, and he is nothing but a solid guy and a friend who had been invested. With that, Carson announced the third place artist was Will Champlin. He then revealed this season’s winner was Tessanne Chin. She was immediately a sobbing mess, as Adam presented her with her trophy, and she had to perform her new single…but not until after she’d hugged her mother.
