Tonight, Dec. 16, the judges opened The Voice with a performance of “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” They were even joined on stage by a few members of Def Leppard.
Tessanne Chin was up first, with Pink’s “Try.” Adam said Tessanne’s ability is so extraordinary, he just revels in it. He added that what she has is exceedingly rare, and she is one of the most genuine, loving, caring people he has ever met. CeeLo thought Tessanne did wonderful, and she has improved and evolved and become so much better.
Will Champlin was up next and sang Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You.” Adam said Will always works hard, and all he ever did was continue to be passionate about music in the midst of all the craziness on the show. He felt Will had overcome some of the biggest hurdles in the competition. Christina agreed with Adam and commented on Will getting inside his own head too much at times, but she congratulated him on overcoming his struggles to make it to the bottom three…er, final three! (Woops! Watch it, Christina!)
Jacquie Lee sang “Back to Black.” Christina said she loves Jacquie so much and gets so much joy out of watching her do what she does. She added that Jacquie makes her smile, and they had so much fun recording their duet. She finally wrapped it up by saying Jacquie is a gem, and she is going places.
Tessanne and her coach, Adam, sang “Let It Be” for their duet. Adam even played his guitar for their performance. They incorporated a short reggae section in the middle to give the song some of Tessanne’s character.
Jacquie and her coach, Christina, performed “We Remain.” The two wore red dresses and held hands throughout the song.
Will and Adam, also his coach, took on “Tiny Dancer.”
The final three sang “I’ll Be There.”
For her last performance of the night, Tessanne Chin took on Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.” At first, she was intimidated by taking on Whitney, but she wanted to go out with a bang, so she went with it. Adam didn’t have thoughts – he only had emotions. He said this was sacred ground and one of the best vocals ever recorded and only allowed Tessanne to rehearse it one time. He added that he was blown away by Tessanne and knew in his heart that she was the winner of The Voice.
Will sang “Everything I Do, I Do It For You,” by Bryan Adams. He finished the song out singing to his wife and daughter. Adam told Will he considered it a victory, because he couldn’t see any negatives from him being in the final three. Blake said he always looks forward to what Will is going to do, and Will is good luck because every team he was on made it to the finale.
Jacquie Lee closed out the night out with Jennifer Hudson’s version of “And I Am Telling You, I’m Not Going.” Christina was completely speechless and couldn’t believe the amount of talent Jacquie has in her little body at 16 years old. She said this was Jacquie’s moment to prove she is a force to be reckoned with. Blake said it was one of the best coach/artist pairings, and it was amazing to see Jacquie’s evolution on the show.
