Audio communication is such a strong precedent in paranormal investigations and, I think I can safely say, makes up the majority of evidence that is collected.
Whether it is voices solely heard by a particular individual only or utterances heard by a group, audio is a key player in the business of ghost hunting throughout the years.
The Spiritualist Movement which had its run from roughly 1840 to the 1920s strongly emphasized audio communication with the dearly departed. It was a showboat parade of mysterious voices, combined with an ongoing circus of lifting and tilting tables, wall raps, and the increasing popularity of summoning the dead and carrying on a non-verbal conversation using—the Quija Board.
The Quija Board…it is one thing to seek evidence that an entity is already present and entrenched in a particular location; it is quite another to attempt to draw something in! Quija Boards and séances gained a particular notoriety during this spiritualist period of ghostly interaction, with remnants that have carried over to the present day. For the majority of paranormal investigative groups this is an area that is best left alone…but, there are always those folks who push the envelope and toe right up to that line. They eventually cross it and at that point it becomes a whole different ballgame. It’s best to just avoid this temptation all together.
These formalized spiritualist sessions were most often conducted in the dark, or at best in minimal light, opening up the opportunity for fraud and deception. And those spirits did speak…amplifying faint voices through floating trumpets or balls of ectoplasm that would perch on a shoulder and utter tirades of gibberish into the receiver’s ear. Many of these sessions were proven to be elaborate parlor tricks.
As society became more “sophisticated” the Spiritualist Movement dissolved quietly away. But nothing ever really dies, as evidenced by the continued popularity of mediums and psychics (many retooling the parlor tricks from days gone by), and the continued dabbling with the Quija Board and séances (often reinforced with the partaking of adult beverages and inane giggling).
The literal Voice Of God spoke audibly to Saul as he made his way to Damascus with distain and murder in his heart towards the disciples of Jesus (Acts 9:1-19). There was the bright explosion of light and then the Voice, heard by not only him but also his traveling companions. It was a life changing experience!
Then we ease gingerly into the area of EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon).
Thomas Edison was a Theosophist and life long student of the order of natural law, ancient and modern philosophy, and the study of science. He was a pioneer in the study and development of electrical energy, but was particularly infatuated with the tie-in of electromagnetism and telegraphic communication—the transmission of the human voice. He was also intrigued in the possibility of the transmission of the not so human voice. He tinkered with the idea of a device that would allow “personalities” in another existence or sphere to “express themselves.” It is not known if any such device was ever constructed by his hands, but it stands as ironic that Edison himself had extremely poor hearing.
In the paranormal field there is boundless speculation about the nature of EVPs. There are no right or wrong answers…yet plenty of questions. Do spirits communicate by focusing their energy on a recording medium (audio/film) or is it a continuing loop of residual utterances circling unabated? Is there the possibility that EVPs originate from the investigators own subconscious…projecting as a form of psychokenesis onto a recording device? And what of those audible voices heard in a group, but not picked up on a recorder? Or…voices that are recorded, but mysteriously disappear off of the recording at some point in time?
Spirits have been called “harvesters of energy” and communication is a part of this harvesting. Our brain produces electrical pulses and random thoughts that are generated in a nano second. It would appear that spirits, when they so choose to communicate, have the ability to decipher our thought process and give us answers to questions we have not even verbally asked…sometimes audibly for all to hear, sometimes in that private little voice in our head.
Apparently these spirits have talents and skills available only to those in the departed club!
This brings us back around to the Voice of God and voices that only you can hear.
Are voices heard mentally by only one person a sign of mental disorder? It certainly can be. I would guess the criterion is whether it ultimately adversely affects the overall life of the individual. The Voice of God technology certainly has the capability to simulate this disorder but, for all practical purposes, it’s far better to implant a voice giving instruction than to make the recipient feel they are going crazy. Crazy folks are unpredictable folks!
Many surmise that voice projections into the skull might not just be originated by our government for military purposes, but also are extraterrestrial or alien in origin; possibly a combination of the two working together. In UFO circles this allegiance has been a long standing rumor throughout the years. There have been years of stories of alien encounters where not a verbal word was spoken but long conversations were held. Telepathy appears to reign king during encounters with extraterrestrial beings. Telepathic communication is a form of the Voice of God…utilizing a higher evolved mindset with the ability to accomplish the same means. Conversations, totally without audible speech…writer Stephen King referred to it as “Shining.”
So the question arises—if a LRAD (Long Range Acoustical Device) can produce words in the brain of an individual, can that same projection also be picked up on a recorder? It would be interesting to experiment.
I am in no way implying that Voice of God weaponry is being used to fool hapless paranormal investigators into believing they are receiving transmissions from the dead. It’s expensive technology, and there are literally thousands of ghost-hunting teams spread across the world…and, for what purpose? What would be the motivation for doing this? To promote false positives? Would a government entrenched in a continuing campaign of disinformation take the effort and expense to promote the notion there are “ghosties” lurking just beneath the shadows? I would point out that the technology is out there, and getting more refined (and affordable) each day. For example it would only be good business for the paying “haunted” venues to latch onto this…to enhance the investigative experience. Just saying…. In the end, the success or failure of these venues depends upon the encounter. It can be a brutal haunted world out there!
So, it all boils down to—if our military and government forces are refining technology to implant words and thoughts into our minds, and this technology is gradually trickling down into the private sector, what else is being developed in the shadows?
There have been numerous reports of unidentified loud and strange sounds, seemingly emitting from the skies. You Tube is a current depository of such reports. These “sounds” have been reported across the world, including Greenwood and Indianapolis, Indiana. It becomes a little more real when it happens in your own backyard! Are these another form of Voice of God weaponry still in its infant stage? Sometimes the sounds manifest as “booms”…sometimes as Kiel type “horns.” Reports began rolling in around the spring of 2012 and continue today. As each week passes they become more numerous in number.
One geophysicist suggested they “are related to acoustic gravity waves caused by powerful solar flares and plasma emissions from the sun.” NASA physicists discount that theory but have offered none of their own. Are we in the testing phase of military bells and whistles as the next “new thing” is developed? Or, on the more extreme side, is it extraterrestrial manipulation as they serenade the heavens? Strange days indeed!
As always, our only option is to sit back and wait for the rest of the story.
