"The Voice" is back. The chair-flipping excitement airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. During auditions Monday night, which you can read about in complete detail on this Sept. 24 article on MSN.com, one voice really stood out. Donna Allen, a 54-year-old former R & B singer, auditioned for the familiar panel, hoping to resurrect her singing career from 25 years ago. She wowed the audience with a simple song, "You Are So Beautiful."
As Allen delivered the familiar tune, suddenly the rich mahogany tones of her soulful voice worked their magic. Two chairs whipped around quickly, and when she finished her performance, Xtina and Adam good-naturedly battled to be her coach. She chose Adam, and the most memorable scene from Monday night was the curvaceous singer wrapping her arms and legs around Adam in a joyous embrace.
Folks over fifty (like this Examiner) will surely be watching Donna Allen with interest. She is representing all those who think it’s too late for their dreams. You go girl!
