The Red Cross of Santa Monica is honoring all kinds of heroes at it’s 8th annual American Red Cross Red Tie Affair. The event will be held Saturday May 3 at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica California hosted by Fox 11 news anchor/ reporter Christine Devine. Red carpet arrivals begin at 5:30 PM. Captain Chesley B. (“Sully”) Sullenberger, who performed what is known as “The Miracle on the Hudson” will be honored in addition to the coaches and executive producers of The Voice. Celebrity chef Nick Stellino will provide cocktails and gourmet food.
Radio and TV personality Carson Daly has played a big role in the Red Cross of the Los Angeles area with a part in PrepareSantaMonica. The Crystal Cross Award for Outstanding support of The American Red Cross will be presented to the coaches and producers of The Voice. Former Voice contestants Dani Moz and TJ Wilkins will be in attendance at the event as well as Biff Gore, who will be performing “Change is Gonna Come” and “Stand by Me”.
The Rick Crocker Spirit of Volunteerism Award, which is named for the Santa Monica police officer, Red Cross volunteer and Iraqi war veteran who died in 2005, will be presented to the UCLA People Animal Connection, a therapy dog program by the Ford Motor Company Fund and Southern California Ford Dealers for their work.
The Red Tie Affair is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Red Cross of Santa Monica. Guests are encouraged to wear something red in support of the Red Cross’ mission.
