Night two of the battle rounds continued last night on “The Voice” (originally airing October 15, 2013). The competition got started with a match-up from Coach Christina Aguilera’s team. She put Jacob Poole and Matthew Schuler in the ring together and gave them “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark” by Fallout Boy. On paper Matthew seemed to be a favorite having gotten the fastest four chair turn in “The Voice” history, but Jacob showed that he had plenty of skill and he was not going to get blow away. The battle was energetic and both guys had a chance to shine. It was clearly a tough choice, but Christina decided to go with Matthew.
Next in the ring were Kat Robichaud and R. Anthony from Coach Cee Lo Green’s team. They were given Aerosmith’s power ballad “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” Both singers had an emotional connection to the song. Mentor Miguel had some great input for both singers that helped them both find a way to shine in the song. Their differing styles made the battle interesting and evenly matched. After some thoughts from the other coaches including a great joke from Blake about Kat's intensity, Cee Lo chose to save Kat Robichaud.
In a quick recap they showed highlights of a few other battles including another from Team Cee Lo that matched Cole Vosbury against Lupe Carroll. Cee Lo decided to keep Cole Vosbury. Blake Shelton paired E.G. Daily against Sam Cerniglia and saved E.G. Daily. Adam Levine paired Justin Blake against Ashley DuBose and chose to keep Ashley Dubose on his team.
After the recap we got back to the longer battles. Team Blake was up again this time represented by Monika Leigh and Ray Bouoreaux. Blake chose for them to sing Grand Funk Railroad’s “Some Kind of Wonderful” because it fit both singers’ bluesy style. Cher was worried that Monika was being inconsistent so she was a little nervous. Monika got herself together and performed well in the battle, but Ray was just a little better and won the battle. As Monika said her goodbye Cee Lo hit his button and stole her.
This newest episode of “The Voice” ended with Cee Lo and Monika hugging. Next week, in all new episodes, the battle rounds continue and if the previews are any indication they are going to be hot.
