Colombian singing sensation Shakira won't be on the roster of mentors alongside regulars Adam Levine and Blake Shelton when "The Voice" premieres in September, but the mom of one spilled some pretty serious beans on Aug. 28 when she revealed that she is pregnant with her second child. The baby's father is her long-time partner Gerard Pique, 27, a footballer who plays for Barcelona.
The 37-year old singer/songwriter first shared the good news with Cosmopolitan en Espanol before hitting Twitter to tell followers. The announcement was a simple one that read "Yes, we are expecting our second baby!! Thank you all for your well wishes!" A host of sweet responses followed as fans offered up their congratulations. Shakira and Pique are already parents to 19-month old son Milan, who was born in January of 2013.
During the spring 2014 season of "The Voice," Shakira served as coach to the all-girl team of Tess Boyer, Dani Moz, and Kristen Merlin during the live shows. She was the first mentor eliminated from the competition when aspiring country singer Merlin was booted after losing the Twitter instant save vote to YouTube star Christina Grimmie just a week shy of the finals.
Shakira is the latest big name celebrity to experience a baby-induced change on the home front. On Aug. 27, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees announced the birth of his first daughter with wife Brittany. The duo have three other young children, all boys, who range in age from two to five and a half years. Earlier in the week, actress Amanda Peet revealed her own third pregnancy.
To keep up with Shakira, follow her on Twitter. "The Voice" season seven premieres in September on FOX with Shelton, Levine, and newcomers Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani serving as mentors.
