The Voice 6: Tessanne Chin, Usher, Rascal Flatts rock new songs on Top 3 reveal

"The Voice" Season 5 winner Tessanne Chin returned to the stage she dominated a half-year ago on Tuesday night's Top 5 results show -- where the three finalists were named for the Season 6 finale. She and fellow Season 5 finalists Will Champlin and Jacquie Lee all performed new music, as did country supergroup Rascal Flatts and "The Voice" judge Usher.

As Michael Slezak at TVLine noted in his results recap on May 13, one shouldn't get too attached to finalists on the "The Voice." Five finalists had been eliminted in 8 days, he said. (By extension, that meant seven in 15 and 9 in 22 days. Yes, in just a day over three weeks, "The Voice" went from the Top 12 to the Top 3.)

Usher started the night by performing "Good Kisser," the lead single from his upcoming Hands of Stone album. The song was released on May 5, as was the official video for the tune.

Rascal Flatts performed their latest hit "Rewind," which can be found on their ninth studio album of the same name. "Rewind" is already a major hit, having made its way into the Top 5 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.

Then it was time for some new stuff from some alums of "The Voice."

Jacquie Lee led off with "Broken Ones." It is the debut single from her as-yet-unnamed first album, which she is currently working on. A bit meandering, it had a bit of Sara Bareilles feel to it.

Will Champlin admitted to host Carson Daly that he was doing same. He performed "Eye of the Pyramid," a very drum-heavy, infectious song.

But then Tessanne Chin got on stage and performed the first song from her upcoming album, Count On My Love, which is scheduled for release on June 24. And if the first song, "Everything Reminds Me Of You," is an indication of what's to come, Tessanne just might have a hit single and album on her hands. The tune has a strong 70s-80s-like R&B feel to it (and it may have been chosen for just such a sound, given that she once sang back-up for Gladys Knight and Peabo Bryson).

All three of the Season 5 finalists will hit the road in June on The Voice Summer Tour 2014. Dia Frampton, Season 1's runner-up will also be on the tour. The top three finalists from Season 6 will be joining them as well.

Who were the Top 3?

Soon after Tessanne's performance, Jake Worthington of Team Blake (Shelton) was told he was one of the three in the finale. Then Josh Kaufman of Team Usher heard his name.

The three remaining contestants -- Kristen Merlin, Kat Perkins, and Christina Grimmie -- performed for the "Instant Save" round. Christina Grimmie of Team Adam (Levine) took the final spot for the Season 6 finale.

So Christina, Josh, and Jake will tour with Tessanne and company this summer.

But which one will take the title? That will be determined on May 19 by popular vote. The winner will be revealed on May 20 on "The Voice" Season 6 finale results show.
