"The Voice" 2014 concluded May 20 on NBC as rising R&B star Josh Kaufman was crowned the season six winner. Jake Worthington of Team Blake Shelton placed in the runner-up position while Team Adam Levine's Christina Grimmie finished third.

Kaufman's journey on the hit reality singing competition began with a four chair turning rendition of George Michael's "One More Try" that left Adam Levine, Usher, Shakira, and Blake Shelton all fighting for the right to be his mentor. Although Kaufman originally selected Levine to be his coach, he lost a second round battle to Delvin Choice, and Usher snapped up the chance to add him to his team. Levine spent the remainder of the season lamenting his decision to ax Kaufman.

The 38-year old Indiana resident fared very well with both the mentors and the public during his tenure as a contestant. He racked up more iTunes bonus multipliers than any other hopeful, taking the coveted prize for his takes on "Stay With Me," "I Can't Make You Love Me," and "All of Me." Although a technical problem kept his May 19 cover of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" from being readily available in the iTunes store, no multiplier was in play so he did not lose out on a bonus.

In addition to earning the support of the coaches and his fans, Kaufman also earned the votes of teen mega star Justin Bieber. The international star tweeted followers following the performance show with a request, writing "Vote #TeamUsher and @iamjoshkaufman - and Call (855) VOICE-03 and Text 3 to 8642 let's go!"

Kaufman's victory marked Usher's first win as a mentor. He previously came close with indie rocker Michelle Chamuel, who finished second to season five winner Danielle Bradbery. Only Levine and Shelton have previously won titles; Levine owns two, while Shelton owns three.

With "The Voice" 2014 in the books, the hit reality series will move to its seventh season this fall. Pharrell will take Usher's chair while Gwen Stefani will debut as a mentor in the chair occupied by Shakira during season six.
