"The Voice" 2013 continued Dec. 2 on NBC with the top six performance show, which saw the talented aspiring singers perform not just one but two tunes each for America's votes. For her dedication round offering, teen Jacquie Lee went personal by choosing to perform coach Christina Aguilera's "The Voice Within," and earned the international super star's highest praise for the effort.
Although other contestants opted to sing in honor of friends and family, 16-year old Lee decided to dedicate her performance to Aguilera, who she called "a huge inspiration." She went on to reveal that the song itself was "one of the main reasons I decided to become a vocalist."
Lee's live performance started off a little low and quiet, but she turned on her powerful pipes and hit the rest of the notes beautifully. Aguilera rewarded the effort with a standing ovation and a very long, rambling speech. She called the experience of hearing Lee sing her song "very special" and drew parallels between Lee and herself as a young singer. She praised the teen for her growth over the course of the competition, and said she was "just touching the surface" of her talent.
Despite Aguilera's appreciation, the song wasn't a huge hit with iTunes users. At the close of the 8 AM Pacific time voting window on Dec. 3, it ranked just 46th on the top 200 chart, trailing 10 of the 11 other performances given by the top six.
