"The Voice" 2013 continued Dec. 10 on NBC with the top five results show. After an hour of entertainment that featured the return of show alums Danielle Bradbery, Cassadee Pope, The Swon Brothers and Michelle Chamuel, the field of talented hopefuls was winnowed to just three, and one coach found himself in very unfamiliar territory.
The first contestant to advance to the Dec. 16 finals was Team Adam Levine's Jamaican sensation Tessanne Chin, whose Dec. 9 rendition of the Simon and Garfunkel hit "Bridge Over Troubled Water" scored her not only an iTunes vote bonus, but also the top spot on the iTunes singles chart.
Also advancing to the finals was Team Christina Aguilera's teen vocalist Jacquie Lee, who also earned a vote multiplier for her top five show performance, an upbeat, soulful take on "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan.
The last of the three available berths went to indie artist Will Champlin of Team Adam. Like Chin and Lee, Champlin earned a vote multiplier for placing 10th on the iTunes chart with his taken on "Carry On" by Fun.
Failing to make the cut were Team Adam's James Wolpert and Team Blake Shelton's Cole Vosbury. Although both men placed within the top 15 as of the close of the Dec. 10 voting window, neither claimed a bonus. Vosbury's elimination put Shelton in an unfamiliar position as he failed to guide a student to the show's finals for the very first time.
"The Voice" 2013 will return to NBC on Dec. 16 as Chin, Lee and Champlin engage in one last battle for the season five crown.
