"The Voice" 2013 resumed Dec. 9 on NBC as the top five talented contestants sang one song apiece for America's votes and a chance to make the Dec. 16 finals. By the close of the voting window at 11 AM Eastern time Dec. 10, a whopping three hopefuls found themselves in the top 10 of the iTunes top 200 singles chart, securing each of them a vote multiplier and suggesting that the other two finalists may find themselves on the short end of the elimination stick at the close of the Dec. 10 results show.
The top ranking belonged to Team Adam Levine's powerhouse vocalist Tessanne Chin, who saw her emotional, show-closing rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" shoot all the way to number one. The top 10 finish marked the perpetually kind-hearted Chin's first of the season, and she reacted to the news with gratitude, tweeting "Oh my God!!!! It's like 5:30am here but being woken up by this news is priceless!!! You did it!!!…" along with a photo of her song atop the chart.
Also scoring her first iTunes bonus was Christina Aguilera's last hope for the win, teen Jacquie Lee, whose jazzy take on the Sarah McLachlan hit "Angel" charted at number seven.
Finally, Team Adam's Will Champlin nabbed his second vote multiplier with Fun's "Carry On," which finished the voting window ranked number 10. Champlin earned his first download bonus for his Nov. 25 rendition of the Etta James classic "At Last." He is, to date, the only season five contestant to earn more than one iTunes multiplier.
The other two finalists fell just short of cashing in. Team Blake Shelton's sole surviving member, Cole Vosbury, placed 12th with his take on the Garth Brooks hit "Shameless," while Team Adam's James Wolpert finished 14th with U2's "With or Without You." Although he came close several times, Vosbury is the sole contestant without an iTunes bonus to his name; Wolpert earned his with his Nov. 4 take on "A Case of You." Without extra votes headed their way, Vosbury and Wolpert may find themselves vulnerable during the semifinal round's double elimination.
Still, download results tell only part of the story, so to see which three hopefuls secure spots in the finals, watch "The Voice" 2013 top five results show Dec. 10 on ABC.
