"The Voice" 2013 continued Dec. 16 on NBC with the season five performance finale, which saw the three win-eligible hopefuls singing three songs apiece. Teen Jacquie Lee brought the evening of fine entertainment to a close with a powerful take on Jennifer Hudson's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" that blew away not only coach Christina Aguilera, but Hudson herself.
Before Lee hit the stage to perform one last time for America's votes, she reminded viewers that before the show, she was "just a student who sang for charities." Aguilera called Lee's presence "undeniable" and likened her to her "little sister." The international super star explained her decision to have the teen sing the popular and vocally taxing song by calling it "her moment to shine," and encouraged Lee to incorporate all of her experiences as a contestant into the performance.
Lee's performance, though not as pitch-perfect as some of the other efforts put forth, was very well-executed. She conveyed the hefty doses of emotion required very well, and put a lot of passion into her vocals. Even if she doesn't take the title, her chances of establishing herself in the music marketplace are excellent.
A very proud Aguilera at first declared herself "speechless," but went on to lavish heaps of rich praise on Lee's performance. She called Lee's talent at just 16 years of age "unbelievable" and said she adores her. She also insisted that Lee has "what it takes" to "get to that next level."
Hudson was also impressed by Lee's cover. Shortly after the live broadcast, she tweeted her support of the teen to followers, writing "I know who I’m voting for! @jacquieleemusic killed it on the #VoiceFinale."
Lee also caught the attention of "Jersey Shore" star Deena Cortese, who urged fans to support the teen's bid for the title by tweeting "Everyone please call n vote for @jacquieleemusic on #TheVoice she is amazing!"
