'The View' Season 18: Could Todd Chrisley or Ross Matthews be hired as co-host?

News broke just a few days ago about Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy being ousted at “The View.” While the whole picture isn't clear, ABC has commented that they will be moving in a different direction this fall. Speculation has been that a male co-host would be one of the bigger changes for the series. According to a June 28 report from Daily New Digest, it looks like Ross Matthews' name is being tossed in the ring for the co-host job. Matthews is best known for his work on “Chelsea Lately” and “The Tonight Show.”

A lot of fans have been voicing their excitement over a potential male co-host. For the last 17 seasons, women of all shapes and sizes have been sitting at the table. When the show was created, it appealed to women because it was an all-women talk show, something brand new at the time. As times have evolved, the audience has as well. When Jenny McCarthy was hired last fall to replace conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the dynamic of the show changed and many feel it was too liberal.

The idea of a man co-hosting has been appealing for quiet some time. “The View” has given several men co-hosting stints, but never hired one on a permanent basis. Savannah Chrisley posted an Instagram picture with words supporting Todd Chrisley as a potential co-host for the show. Chrisley was a huge hit when he appeared at the table with the ladies a few months ago.

With “The View” wanting to go in a new direction this fall, a male co-host is the perfect decision. Whether Todd Chrisley or Ross Matthews are the right men for the job is up to the network, but fans are already pleased with the speculation. Both men have a decent fan base which could bring in new viewers for the show. Season 18 of “The View” may just be the best one yet.
