After summer of speculation about what would happen to the next season of “The View,” ABC has officially reported that Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace have been named as co-hosts for the show. They join moderator Whoopi Goldberg and retuning co-host Rosie O’Donnell on the couch when the new season premieres live on Monday, September 15th on ABC. The show has seen a lot of turnover in recent years with a revolving door of co-hosts, most notably this past season which saw departures by long time host Sherri Shepherd, freshman host Jenny McCarthy and the retirement of creator and executive producer Barbara Walters. The show is getting a complete reboot with a new set, new logo and an entire new look. The show will also move to the ABC Broadcast Center for the look and have a contemporary an on-camera social media station and a new logo and color scheme.
“These are powerful and accomplished women from different walks of life who have had amazing personal and professional experiences. Each brings incredible perspective and information to the table,” said Bill Wolff, executive producer in a statement. “This mix of smart, vibrant and energetic women is unlike anything else on daytime television.”
Perez has starred in numerous films including “Do the Right Thing,” “White Men Can't Jump,” and “Fearless” which earned her an Oscar nomination.
Wallace is a political analyst for MSNBC and was part of President George W. Bush’s White House staff.
With the newly named co-hosts, which was announced exclusively by Deadline, the rush to fill the chairs appears to be complete. All summer long, rumors and speculation ran rapid as many names were reported as possible hosts, including what would have been the first male permanent co-host.
“The View” returns Monday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT on ABC.
