"The Vampire Diaries" finally said good-bye to Katherine Pierce on CW. Now fans are being teased about what is coming up next on the series. On March 6, TV Guide shared the latest comments made by Caroline Dries about what is coming up next for Damon and Elena, who are played by Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
Katherine is dead and gone, and Elena is back. However, Katherine left Elena with a parting gift. She injected her with Wes' vampire eating virus. This will start the journey of Ripper Elena, and it will cause big problems for Damon and Elena. A new preview for the next episode did tease a reunion for the pair, but the happy moment won't last long. Dries teased the following:
It's now, how do we get out of this? Elena is dealing with the turmoil and emotional damage left in Katherine's wake, but Elena is also dying. This virus is killing her. Two of our main characters have this incurable virus and they want to kill everyone, so what do they do? Our guys will have to make a deal with the devil to save their friends.
As for Katherine, Dries did tease more about her exit as well. Katherine did not cross over to the other side to spend eternity with her daughter. She was sucked into a void, and she is going to a very dark place. It isn't being called hell, but it is close to it. Will the series explore this dark place? Not likely. Katherine Pierce is gone, and she will stay gone. However, fans will see a new doppelganger arrive before the season ends.
What do you think? Are you sad to see the final exit of Katherine Pierce? "The Vampire Diaries" will continue to air on CW on Thursday nights.
