Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" were on the edge of their seats during last night's season five finale. The episode just aired, but there are some early details about season six already floating around the Internet. On May 15, Wetpaint Entertainment shared new teasers for Caroline's next romance, and it definitely looks like Stefan and Caroline will go there next season. Caroline Dries teased more about the new romance set for the pair.

When Stefan died at the end of the last episode, it seemed like the Caroline romance was off the table. Damon came up with a plan to save his brother, but he ended up on the other side when it imploded at the end of the finale. He and Bonnie may not return next season, but Ian Somerhalder did make it sound like he would return next season on his Twitter when the finale for season five wrapped production. Fans will need to tune in to find out about Damon's fate.

His brother will finally move on from Elena though. Dries teased the following: "[Stefan and Elena's] relationship has evolved so much and they share such mutual respect for each other that we wanted them to have a meaningful friendship moving forward... but in terms of romance, at the moment at least we said he's moved on. I don't think [Caroline's] going to rekindle things with Tyler, but we don't want to rush her into anything either. We want every step of her love story — with whomever it's with — to feel meaningful and organic."

Paul Wesley is definitely back for season six, and the actor even revealed that he will direct another episode next season. He directed episode 18 of season five. As for Matt Davis, fans might have guessed this with his return from the other side, but he is back on the "TVD" cast roster for season six. He is back on the show as a regular cast member next season, according to TV Line. Alaric was killed at the end of season three, and Davis starred on his own CW series the following season, but "Cult" did not survive. Alaric has been in and out since his death, and now he is back for good.

It is ironic that Damon always wanted his best friend back, but Damon is dead when he returns. What do you think? Are you ready for season six?
