Last time we saw "The Vampire Diaries" Damon sent Elena home - away from him, Stefan found out how far Damon and Elena took their relationship, Klaus killed Tyler's mother in a fit of rage, April discovered Rebekah, Klaus killed 12 of his hybrids, and Damon, Bonnie and professor Shane work to help Jeremy with his problematic desire to kill his sister. Vampire Diaries will return to the CW Thursday January 17, 2013 and TV Line released some great spoilers January 1, 2013 - the highlights can be seen below.
Damon's direction to Elena was to "go home" not to "get over him" or "forget him" so fans will see a lot of longing from both sides of this relationship. Tyler takes the death of his mother - the only family member he has left - tragically hard and becomes very difficult to help. Klaus and Caroline still have some scenes together in the future but Caroline has no desire to have anything to do with him after what he did to her boyfriend Tyler. April and Rebekah are not too happy with being lied to and betrayed and Rebekah is going to be out for blood and Stefan will be her prime target. Damon becomes Tyler's vampire hunter mentor, which is an interesting turn of events. The things Damon will do for Elena's happiness.
