'The Vampire Diaries' season 6: What is known about Damon and Bonnie

Two characters that fans are curious about on "The Vampire Diaries" are Damon and Bonnie. On the season 5 finale, they were thought to be gone forever when the Other Side finally collapsed. After the airing of that episode, executive producer Julie Plec assured viewers that Ian Somerhalder and Kat Graham would be back. So what can fans expect when the vampire series returns? On Aug. 11, WetPaint posted a spoiler roundup focused on the two characters.

Even thought fans know that Damon and Bonnie will appear in "The Vampire Diaries" season 6, the details on where they are have been kept closely guarded. However, TV Line reported that where they are will be part of the mystery when the season begins. While it's not exactly fun, it isn't "torturous" either. The best way it is being described is that it is somewhat of an "existential experience."

Damon and Bonnie are not exactly going to have answers either. They will understand that they are in a different place than before, but they will be asking a lot of questions, just like viewers. They will wonder where they are, how they arrived there and ask the question of how on earth do they get back home.

Damon and Bonnie won't just sit around their new surroundings, though. They are both strong-willed and determined characters. They will try to figure a way out of their situation and hopefully they will find it.

There have been speculations that there will be a "Bamon" romance. Kat Graham laughed and said that she and Ian Somerhalder have no chemistry. Plec also addressed the rumors and said,

"To me, in spite of what [Bonnie and Damon] had in the books, that kind of relationship would only be born out of chemistry, and an on-screen connection."

The executive producer also said that Somerhalder and Graham are close and are excited to work together. Plec added,

"There could be instant chemistry there that we all sit back and watch like we did, frankly, with Klaus and Caroline, with that very first scene. There was never any plan to have romance but he cures her on her freaking birthday and all of a sudden, the world is melting.. So you never know, but what we did want to do is we wanted to service the Bamon relationship from the books and at least give those two characters an opportunity—that we never thought we'd have frankly cause they never liked each other, and for good reason—to bond and get close and to be comrades. So it will start there, and it may never go any further—that's not the plan, but you never know."

As for other information on the vampire series, season 6 will be a reset. The Hollywood Reporter chatted with Plec and it was revealed that the upcoming season would be a "beautiful and organic reset." The theme is for everyone to be able to start over and that is what the writers are going to do. There will also be a substantial time jump. A promotional poster had the following tagline,

"Season six will be the story of their battle between good and evil within themselves, and their journey back to each other to reclaim their home."

What do you think is going to happen on "The Vampire Diaries" season 6? The show returns to the CW on Oct. 2.
