There isn't exactly good news about what's coming up between Caroline and Stefan in "The Vampire Diaries" season 6 – at least not if you're a fan who wants to see them get together. On Tuesday, Sept. 2, TVLine and TV Guide both reported teases about the immediate future for these two characters.

First, according to TVLine, executive producer Caroline Dries has revealed that Caroline realizes that her feelings for Stefan are "a little more one-sided than she was hoping." Expect "some fallout from that," but don't be too bummed because Dries still considers their story "a fascinating love story," even if the feelings aren't exactly requited.

Meanwhile, TV Guide has a bit more about what's coming up – and it involves Elena. Apparently Elena is going to overhear everything when Caroline confronts Stefan about her feelings "early on" in the season, and you can expect to "be surprised by her reaction." While Elena can't exactly say much, considering she got together with Stefan's brother, any reaction from her should be interesting, given how she's coping with losing Damon, as seen in the promo.

Besides, Stefan may have enough going on in the new season, considering how much he lost at the end of season 5, that a new relationship might not be the best idea. He may not have seen it, but he knew there was a reason Lexi didn't cross over from the Other Side, and he knew he wouldn't be seeing his best friend again. Plus, he lost his brother, and no one knows where Damon and Bonnie are.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 premieres Thursday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on the CW. What do you want to see happen between Stefan and Caroline?
