Damon and Elena, known to fans as "Delena" are a hot topic right now. As the season 6 premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" gets closer, fans are wondering if the two will be reunited or not. On Friday, Entertainment Weekly posted a spoiler chat and one of the shows discussed was "TVD." It turns out that executive producer Caroline Dries had some reassuring words for viewers.

Right now all fans know is that Elena will be grieving the loss of her boyfriend when the show returns. He is with Bonnie and are somewhere "familiar yet foreign." A teaser clip released didn't show much but did have Damon telling Elena to move on. He didn't appear to be in a "solid" state, meaning he looked to be a bit transparent. It seems that this isn't a flashback but is more likely him trying to communicate with her.

So should Elena move on? It doesn't sound like she should according to a hint from executive producer Caroline Dries. While she didn't flat out say they would be reunited, it certainly sounds like there is some hope for Delena fans. She said,

“The fans have nothing to worry about. We know what we’re doing. Nobody’s going to abandon any love triangle. Everything will be fine. There will be plenty of Delena goodness for people.”

Viewers were reassured after the season 5 finale that Damon and Bonnie would be on the show the following season. Then there were some worries when it was revealed that only two of the three main cast members (Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder) signed on for a seventh season. Some fans wondered if Damon would end up being gone for good. However, nobody said that the actor holding out wouldn't sign on, just that they haven't yet. Contracts are more complicated than just signing a piece of paper. Many times actors want to negotiate terms and pay. So fans shouldn't get too concerned just yet.

With Dries saying that love triangles are not going to be abandoned doesn't necessarily mean that Damon and Elena will be reunited, but it does say that there will be an ending to the story... good or bad. However, she also said that there will be some "Delena goodness" for viewers. That seems to suggest that there will either be flashbacks of the two or maybe Damon will end up finding his way back.

What do you think Caroline Dries meant by her Delena comments? Will Damon and Elena be reunited in "The Vampire Diaries" season 6? Should Elena just give up and move on?
