'The Vampire Diaries' season 5 episode 10 preview: Salvatores versus Augustine

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 airs its midseason finale, episode 10, "Fifty Shades of Grayson," next week, and on Thursday, Dec. 5, the CW released a new sneak preview teasing what's coming up before the break.

In this next "Vampire Diaries" episode, after Damon (Ian Somerhalder) realizes Elena (Nina Dobrev) is in danger, he apparently somehow escapes and turns to Stefan (Paul Wesley) for help. When they visit Aaron (Shaun Sipos), Damon shocks his brother by revealing his first-hand knowledge of Aaron's family (a.k.a. how he killed all of them). Dr. Wes (Rick Cosnett) unleashes his secret weapon, presumably Enzo (Michael Malarkey), who was revealed to still be alive at the end of "The Cell," to try to stop Damon, and it forces Damon to deal with not only a part of his past he thought was gone forever, but also the consequences of his decades-long plan for revenge.

Meanwhile, Elena is horrified by Dr. Wes' confessions about the dark history of Whitmore College and his ultimate goal, and finally, a frantic Katherine turns to Matt (Zach Roerig) for help until she realizes Nadia (Olga Fonda) could be the one who could solve her problem.

The "Fifty Shades of Grayson" promo to the left begins with a phone call that could be the first step of negotiations for Stefan and Dr. Wes, as Stefan has Aaron and warns the mad scientist doctor that he's trying to figure out how to kill him. Even as Wes threatens Elena, Aaron is going to be getting an up-close-and-personal look at why he should be very careful around Stefan.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. What do you think of this episode 10 "Fifty Shades of Grayson" preview?
