'The Vampire Diaries' season 3: the return of Klaus' [spoiler]

It's been two weeks since we've seen a new episode of "The Vampire Diaries," but it's fair to say that this was worth the wait. There were a number of moving pieces during this episode, and it ended up in some rather massive destruction when it comes to Klaus -- and it led to a rather major shocker at the end of the episode.

First things first, massive credit has to be given to the producers for the show to keeping the appearance of Klaus' mother a secret, especially when it came to her motives. Rather than actually wanting to kill Joseph Morgan's character, she wanted to actually bring the entire family together.

This episode also marked the return of all the Originals -- including Rebekah and Klaus' other two brothers -- and we also saw a key departure as Caroline's father opted to die rather than become a vampire. His death was a part of a mystery that is haunting Mystic Falls -- and the chief suspect in Dr. Fell has been cleared for the time being thanks to her being in the operating room while the latest attack victim (Alaric) was on the brink of death.
