The Thursday, March 27 episode of "The Vampire Diaries" sees Caroline on a mission to save Stefan, Elena and Damon getting some relationship advice from the high school guidance counselor and the Travelers doing something really crazy. In other words, it's just another "TVD" episode.
Awkward counseling session for Delena After they broke up and then broke the bed, as Damon puts it, Damon and Elena can't escape each other when it's time for Jeremy's parent-teacher conference – and Damon is his primary guardian. Awk-ward. But wait, it gets worse. Just as Elena's defending her brother and saying he won't cheat again when Damon tells her he saw Jeremy with Liv, the guidance counselor comes in to list everything Jeremy has done wrong so far: missed 11 days of school (which probably still means a better attendance record than Elena and her friends), started multiple fights and cheated twice in Math. Oh, and who's Damon? The short story is Elena's ex, but imagine the counselor's face if they tell her everything (or if she walks in on what they're up to later in the woodshop). Long story short, the counselor says Jeremy needs a more stable living situation. Ha! If only she knew…
Damon and Elena take a time out from hearing about Jeremy's bad behavior to share a tension-filled moment up against the lockers as he talks about ripping her clothes off and making all the parents and teachers blush before leaving her with "see you in class" when the bell rings. That's one class Elena would not miss, and it seems like they've just decided that they don't care what anyone walking by thinks since they get hot and heavy in the chemistry room, only for that to turn out to be Elena's daydream, and she has to get some fresh air.
In the end, Damon and Elena do finally have a conversation about their relationship, and she points out that it's not just that they're bad for each other, they do bad things for each other when they're together. That has to stop, and that means she's packing up and returning to college – and he lets her go.
Caroline is Caroline and Enzo is Enzo The Atlanta Assassination Squad, as Enzo dubs them, doesn't have much to go on when it comes to the doppelganger Tom Avery, and they have even less when they find out that he's been missing for four months. It's even worse when Caroline can only listen on the phone while Sloan establishes the link again to get an address out of a girl who wanted to buy Tom dinner in exchange for saving her friend's life, and when the AAS gets to her place, the girl's in a trance and they can't enter, so Enzo kills her with the handy doorknob he broke off. They find Tom in the basement, hooked up to IVs, but just because Enzo may fit a certain type Caroline may or may not have doesn't mean he's found a new murder buddy, and she snaps his neck and gets Tom out of there.
She takes him to a diner to feed him because after four months, he must be ravenous, and it's nice to know that for once on this show, a character isn't hungry for blood. She imagines sitting by and watching him choke, but she's too good of a person to just do that and instead, she compels him to leave town, run away and settle down with a girl after the meal. The only problem is Enzo catches up to them and kills him because he also made a deal with the Travelers. They know where Maggie is.
FYI… Liv is not a newbie witch, as she reveals to Jeremy, Matt and Tyler after she talks to the hunter under a silencing spell to keep the hybrid from listening in. As she explains, Jeremy's mind is the only one that can't be controlled by the Travelers, and there's a rumor going around that the witches' ugly stepsisters are up to something big and coming for Elena. The world does revolve around her, and if Jeremy wants to keep his sister safe, he has to help her.
During that parent-teacher conference, Elena decides to get air in the woodshop, surrounded by lots of wood and makeshift stakes, perfect for Liv, who says she's too dangerous before trying to stake her only for Damon to knock her out. It's time to get some answers, and not only does Liv have to sit through Damon's way of trying to get them, she also has to listen to Elena and Damon fighting about their relationship. She tells them that the Travelers will come to Elena to use her, but Damon has decided that instead, Liv gets to die. Or not, because Jeremy steps in while Matt and Tyler keep Luke preoccupied outside, thanks to a call from Bonnie. Look at them, all working together while Damon and Elena are stuck also dealing with human problems.
Elena decides to bring Jeremy's recent bad decisions into the conversation when he tries to convince them that he'll keep Liv from killing her, and at this point, Jeremy's had enough – and rightfully so. "How do you expect me to care about school when this is my life?" (Later on, Damon argues, "Jeremy's whole life is bad for Jeremy.) It's not like he can get a note for any of the things that have kept him out of school – and killed him! – and he takes his life in his own hands and decides that he needs to do what's best for him. That means moving out of the Salvatore house and in with Matt and Tyler, who also get to be part of the deal Jeremy makes with Liv and Luke to protect Elena and stop the Travelers.
Markos makes quite an entrance When Stefan finally wakes up after all the mind-linkage, fortunately with all his memories and only needing to recharge the hero part of his brain by the time Caroline returns and they share more moments that make their friendship the best one on the show at the moment, the Travelers have brought him to a junkyard outside Mystic Falls. He knew she wouldn't be able to do it "because that's what makes you you," he explains when she says she failed and they have another reason to hate Enzo.
The Travelers are going to meet Markos. But they don't meet him the usual way you meet people. Instead, once only one male and female doppelganger are left, Sloan watches as the Travelers drink their blood. Stefan and Caroline take the chance to run while everyone's burning, but what they don't know is that all these Travelers, still chanting because Bonnie can't even escape that, pass through the anchor and out of her comes Markos? Well, that’s new?
