'The Vampire Diaries' received third place in TV.com's Best of Horror Series (Photos)

TV.com has released their "Best of 2012" List and "The Vampire Diaries" won the third place for the title of "Best of Horror/Supernatural Series for 2012."

They were beat out of the first and second spot by "The Walking Dead" and "Supernatural". "Supernatural" has taken on vampires again this season with Dean's new vampire friend, Benny.

"The Vampire Diaries" really took a strong direction in stories this past year. the previous season brought evil Stefan and Klaus' hybrids along with changes in major characters. This recent season, brought Elena back from the dead as a vampire and has her own demons to deal with.

So far fans are saying that this season is the best thus far, with all the ups and downs and deaths this season.
