'The Vampire Diaries' 'Catch Me If You Can' recap: Compulsion and crazy sex

It was time for Jeremy to get his hunt on, whether he wanted to or not, in the Thursday, Jan. 24 episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 4, episode 11, "Catch Me If You Can."

Get your hunt on. Klaus gave Jeremy no choice but to hunt the vampires after he compelled them to chase after them—and Matt was vulnerable. Matt was attacked as he ran through the woods, but between Jeremy, Damon, and Elena, they were able to get him to the safety of the lake house. When Damon and Jeremy returned to the bar to take care of the vampires, Kol had already done it and explained that he wasn't going to risk waking Silas; when he rose again, he'd trigger the end. He may not have been able to kill Jeremy because of the hunter's curse, but he could hurt him. Damon attacked, giving Jeremy the chance to escape.

Jeremy called Elena, who turned to Klaus for help. Though Klaus did call his brother and tell him to let Damon go and leave Jeremy alone, once he hung up, Kol told Damon to stab himself deeper, making sure he could be compelled. And then he told him he wouldn't remember what he said, but to find Jeremy and kill him. When Damon saw Jeremy at the Grill, he headed to do just that. Elena distracted him long enough for Jeremy to escape, and Damon realized what was going on. But that didn't stop him from going after the hunter. He yelled after Jeremy that Kol compelled him and to keep moving. Elena called Stefan for help, and Rebekah answered the call. Elena knew he didn't want to talk to her, but this was about the cure. Meanwhile, Jeremy cut his hand and lured Damon in. He shot him, but Damon told him he'd have to shoot him in the heart; he wouldn't stop otherwise. Jeremy fired.

Damon woke up and removed a bullet from his head. He yelled out that Jeremy should've killed him when he had the chance and set out. Meanwhile, Rebekah tried to intervene by threatening Kol with a daggering, but in the end, Klaus had to stop Kol from daggering her. And out in the woods, Jeremy was running from Damon when Elena caught up to the vampire. She told him he was strong enough to resist the compulsion because they loved each other, but he went after Jeremy. He told him to shoot him, but Stefan intervened and took Damon out.

Team Crazy Fun. Rebekah had a plan to help her and Stefan's last place spot; Shane had Silas' headstone, and she wanted to steal it. Team Shane would have to join their team. While looking through Shane's office, Rebekah offered Stefan some of his herbs to relax and reminded him of what he used to be like. He admitted they had fun and took the herbs. She told him she didn't compel Elena from his mind so he'd learn; caring hurt. They had fun in the past because they just did what felt good. She told him to stop caring. However, their moment was interrupted when someone entered the office. They hid while that person uncovered the headstone, and then Rebekah showed herself.

Rebekah wanted answers, and Stefan suggested waiting until the vervain was out of his system to get the answers. But then the guy bit off his own tongue before stabbing himself in the throat. He had been compelled, but by whom? Rebekah's brother, Stefan's brother, or another team?

Express yourself. Bonnie was worried she couldn't control her power, and after a candle flared up, Shane told her she was strong, focused, and in control. She repeated his words and the flame went out. But then Sheriff Forbes walked in and cuffed Shane; she told Bonnie to talk to her father for answers. Bonnie didn't believe Shane was guilty of the accusations and went in to talk to him, saying she could get the truth. Shane told her Rebekah hadn't been lying. When she returned to him, he explained it was a ritual that was necessary to raise Silas and get the cure; Silas would bring back the dead. "You're full-on crazy," she told him. As she left, he brought up their first session and asked if she'd like to see her grandmother again. That got her.

Shane said that her reckless use of magic was why the spirits were torturing her on the other side, and that angered Bonnie to the point that she used her power to hurt Shane, then to keep her father back when he tried to intervene. Shane forced her to look at him and told her she was in control. That worked, and after she walked out, Shane told her father that she could be one of the most powerful witches in the world with his guidance. Without it, she was a time bomb.

And this week's endings were… When Damon came to, he found that Stefan had bled him out to weaken him since the compulsion was still in effect. Stefan couldn't let him see Elena since he could use the sire bond to tell her to let him out. He said it was better if Damon was locked up until they found the cure and the sire bond was no longer an issue. Elena asked Stefan if he was trying to punish her by being with Rebekah. "You don't know what I look like when I'm not in love with you," he told her.

Bonnie's father told her he'd get her help, but she didn't think she needed it. That was exactly why she did. Klaus showed up at the Gilberts' to fetch Jeremy; he said he was his best bet with Kol out there. They refused, but he said to let him know when Kol came, preferably before he burned their house down. They were still going to finish what they were doing.

Stefan asked Rebekah where she put the headstone. It was someplace safe. So why was he there? For some feelings-free, attachment-free sex. After all, "crazy sex is always good." Elena realized that if Jeremy killed one Original, their entire blood line would die. And so she decided that he'd kill Kol.
