"The Vampire Diaries" is getting ready for a huge milestone episode on CW, and now fans are being teased more about episode 100 by the woman in charge. On Thursday, Jan. 2, Wetpaint Entertainment shared new comments made by Caroline Dries about the episode.

This episode may feature the death of Katherine Pierce. She did collapse during the mid-season finale, but she is not dead yet. She may find a way to survive the aging process and live. While most of the Mystic Falls gang will not miss her, one will have a reaction to her potential passing. Dries teased the following:

[Katherine] doesn't have a huge fan base at the Salvatore house where she is, so Stefan is the person who's there for her.

The pair did rekindle a romantic relationship during the first half of season five, and Katherine has been something to watch. Her character has been a huge part of this season's action. Her death would not be surprising, but the series would lose something without her in it.

A previously released spoiler did tease that someone may hide in another person's body, and that is one possible way Katherine could live. Nadia informed her of that before she collapsed. Will Katherine Pierce die? Fans will need to tune in to find out.

"The Vampire Diaries" will return on Jan. 23.
