The CW has announced that both of their vampire shows have been renewed for the 2014-2015 season. "The Vampire Diaries" is renewed for a sixth season and "The Originals" is renewed for a second season.

"The Vampire Diaries" is currently number two among its time slot among young viewers with an average of 3 million viewers. The show premiered in 2009 with the largest audience in The CW's history. They are currently airing on Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m. EST.

"The Originals" is the spinoff of "The Vampire Diaries" and has been very successful even though their day and time slots have been moved around this season. They are currently airing on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The CW also announced last week that it would be renewing "Arrow", "Reign" and "Supernatural" as early renewals for 2014-2015 season.

This is the statement from the CW president Mark Pedowitz, “This season we’ve had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years. The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I’m very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they’ll have more great drama to look forward to next season.”

So, we still need to hear about the future of other CW shows such as "The Carrie Diaries", "Beauty and the Beast" "Hart of Dixie", and "The Tomorrow People".
