The next new episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 may not be airing for a couple of weeks, but on Friday, April 4, the CW released promotional photos from episode 18, "Resident Evil," series star Paul Wesley's directorial debut.

In this next "TVD" episode, Stefan (Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) are suddenly having unsettling dreams of an alternate version of the life they might have had together, as we've already seen in the promo for the episode.

Meanwhile, Bonnie (Kat Graham) has a disturbing encounter with Grams (Jasmine Guy), who warns her about frightening changes on the Other Side. She also finds out that Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is working with Liv behind her back.

Meanwhile, Liv has Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy and Tyler (Michael Trevino) helping track the Travelers and keeping them from taking control of Mystic Falls. Speaking of the Travelers, remember that spell at the end of "Rescue Me" that led to Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) coming out of Bonnie? Well, Luke (Chris Brochu) will be giving Elena, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) a crash course in both the Travelers and this new mysterious leader.

Finally, Damon finds Markos and is both relieved and disturbed by what he tells him.

The "Resident Evil" photos in the slideshow offer a look at Bonnie with Jeremy, Elena and Caroline (Candice Accola) having what looks like it could be the conversation from the promo, Markos, Damon with Enzo and Elena in the alternate life.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on the CW. "Resident Evil" airs April 17. What do you think of the episode 18 photos?
