The usual suspects from Minnesota make the billionaire list

On Monday Forbes revealed the billionaire list with the names of some well-known Minnesotans. Among them are a total of five people representing the land of 10,000 Lakes from different industries and making them part of the 1426 richest individuals in the world.

So the five individuals to make the list from Minnesota include the following: Barbara Carlson Gage (Founder of Carlson Companies), Marilyn Carlson Nelson (Former CEO and owner of Carlson Companies), Stanley S. Hubbard (Chairman and CEO of Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc.), and Glen Taylor (Founder of Marketing Company Taylor Corporation).

According to the Twin Cities Business blog, these five billionaires made the list the year before. One former Minnesotan who does not reside anymore in the state is Richard Schulze. The former chairman of Best Buy was forced to resign and left the board in light of the scandal that involved ex-CEO Brian Dunn.

The top five people with the highest fortunes came from the three different countries: Mexico, United States and Spain.

Below is a list of the five billionaires listed by names, companies and net worth.

Carlos Slim Telecom $73 Billion
Bill Gates Microsoft $67 Billion
Amancio Ortega Zara $57 Billion
Warren Buffett Berkshire Hathaway $53.5 Billion
Larry Ellison Oracle $43 Billion

If you wanted to know the United States had 442 billionaires while Asia-Pacific totaled 386. Europe came in third with 366, the Americas with 129 and finally the Middle East along with Africa 103.

One figure that might well be worth looking at it is the total net worth of the entire list. Their net worth comes to $5.4 trillion up from $4.6 trillion from a year earlier. Surprisingly 200 new billionaires joined the list.

This evidently raises questions about this overabundance of wealth at time where the economic landscape at home or abroad seem to be diminishing. Problems with jobs, healthcare, salary, unemployment, food, housing and many others are echoing in every corner of the globe.

Surely we can start to propose all sorts of changes, initiatives, policies, politics, etc. The system does not clearly favor us all, so perhaps some dire need to improve the present time is necessary with a comprehensive course of action that is within the confines of the law.
