Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center is again presenting the 2014 USTA Men’s Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas, a men’s $15,000.00 USTA Futures tournament. For the first time, the tournament does not conflict with the BNP Paribas at Indian Wells. It is the week directly following. Hosting ATP players from around the world, the tournament staff is hoping that local and San Fernando Valley tennis fans will be ready for some local professional tennis after going to the desert for the BNP Paribas event.
Starting with the Wildcard tournament, February 21-23 & March 1-2, the singles winner gets a Wildcard spot into the MAIN DRAW. Interested players can log onto the USTA's Tennislink site with Tournament I.D. 650004014 to enter.
Qualifying is set for March 15, 16, & 17, with sign-in on Friday afternoon, March 15th, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Admission is free to the general public to see the matches from qualifying on Saturday, March 15 through Thursday, March 20.
Beginning on Friday, March 21 through the finals, Sunday, March 23, tickets to the matches are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids under 14. During the tournament there is a Pro-Am for sponsors on Sunday, March 16th. A USPTA Coaches workshop with one or two of the Pro Circuit players and their coach on Tuesday, March 18th from 11:00 to 12:30 PM. The Adult Pro-Am drill is Friday, March 21st, 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Community Tennis Association & USTA League appreciation night is Friday, March 21st starting at 6:00 PM. The VIP sponsor dinner reception is Friday, March 21st from 6:00 – 10:00 PM. USTA Junior Team Tennis Kid’s Day with a Tennis Carnival is Saturday, March 22nd from 4:00 – 5:30 PM. During 12 years of USTA Men’s Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas, the tournament has boasted a prestigious field of past champions like Michael Chang, Mark Philippoussis, Ivo Karlovic, Vince Spadea, Robert Kendrick, and Donald Young among others. A number of members of the U. S. Davis Cup team have played the Calabasas Challenger, including every member of the current Davis Cup team, Sam Querrey, John Isner, Donald Young and Mike & Bob Brian. Last year, double Olympic gold medalist and former #9 player in the world Nicolas Massu played in the USTA Men’s Pro Tennis Championships of Calabasas.
