The Urbandale Chamber of Commerce will hold their first Urbandale Craft Beer and Food Festival on Saturday, June 28. The event will take place at Walker Johnston Park in and around the E.J. Giovannetti shelter from noon until 4 p.m. The festival will feature beers from a number of craft breweries from across Iowa and throughout the nation, food from a number of Central Iowa restaurants, and live local music.
Tickets for the festival are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. They may be picked up at the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce or the Urbandale Hy-Vee, or they may be purchased online through Tikly. Ticket prices include a free sampling glass (limited to the first 500) and a wristband that allows samples. Designated driver tickets may also be purchased for $5. (Designated drivers do not get the sampling mug or a wristband to sample/purchase beverages). Yellow Cab Company will sponsor a designated driver station at the festival, as well. The area restaurants participating in the Urbandale Craft Beer and Food Festival are Famous Dave's BBQ (Des Moines), Hal & Al's Q & Catering (Adel), Iowa Machine Shed (Urbandale), Isla Cozumel (Urbandale), Merle Hay Mall, (Des Moines), Mama Lacona's (Urbandale), and Sam & Louie's New York Pizzeria (Urbandale). Some of the craft breweries that have been announced for the festival include Exile Brewing Company, Confluence Brewing Company, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, Blue Moon Brewing Company, Peace Tree Brewing Company, Boulevard Brewing Company, New Belgium Brewing, Founders Brewing Company, and Millstream Brewing Company. Live music for the event will be provided by the Des Moines party bands Gimikk and Monkey Monkey Monkey.
