Anne Danvers waited her entire life knowing that she would one day become the Duchess of Waverly. She would have a husband to dote upon and be filled to the brim with the beautiful responsibilities that come with the title. However, just a few days into her prearranged marriage to Rhys Carlisle, Duke of Waverly, he mysteriously vanishes.
Rhys, knowing that his life would only get better as he got older due to his incredible bloodline, was in for a surprise shortly after his wedding to the beautiful and doting Anne. When he finds out that everything he knew to be true until that point was actually a lie, he runs. He never expected for his new bride to chase after him, however, and when she does, he finds himself unexpectedly and wildly attracted, something rare in an arranged marriage.
Through many bouts of trial and error, Anne and Rhys find themselves in the midst of blackmail and other obstacles that seek to destroy any chance of a happy future together.
Jenna Petersen, historical romance writer extraordinaire, has not disappointed her readers with this one. Not a surprise, since her books are some of the few that look outside of the box for plot lines and outside of this realm for characters that are always realistic, yet daunting and incredible at the same time. More than two thumbs up on this one.
