Aside from keeping you, your passengers, and other drivers on the road safe, safe driving has a number of other benefits. Incentives for lower rates and refunds for safe drivers from insurance companies are now the norm and it's encouraging millions of people to get their driving act together.

Driving record, type of car and how much you use it, where you live and your credit score, are all factors that apply when insurance companies are going to determine your rates and whether or not you are a safe driver. All in all, you'll probably have pretty low rates if you a) are a woman, b) have a clean driving record, c) are over the age of 25, and d) live outside of an urban area.
