For the first time in two years, the UFC is headed back to the Bluegrass State.
White also announced that former UFC light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida will drop down to middleweight and take on former Army Ranger Tim Kennedy in the main event. The main card will air live on FOX Sports 1.
This will be the third “Fight for the Troops” event that the UFC has put on. The first two were held at Fort Hood in Texas and Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C.
The UFC first hosted an event in Kentucky in 2011 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. In the main event, Diego Sanchez defeated Martin Kampmann by decision.
Fort Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. The UFC event at Fort Campbell is not expected to be open to the public.
