'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' makes box office history, midnight showings gross $26.3 million

Summit Entertainment

The fans have been waiting anxiously for the second installment, and now that 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' has been released, as many believed would happen, the film has already broken box office records, thus making history with its midnight showings. These shows have grossed over $26.3 million.

As MTV reports: "Summit Entertainment is reporting that the "Twilight" sequel opened on Thursday night to an unprecedented $26.3 million during its midnight screenings across the country. The film unspooled on 3,514 screens, playing at 12:01 a.m. for die-hard fans — many of whom arrived at the theaters dressed as their favorite characters."

'New Moon' now holds the record that 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' once held for midnight showing ticket sales, and this is only the beginning.

How much money do you think 'New Moon' will gross when all is said and done?
