Are TV shows best for my child?
Children Shows Today

So many children shows are out there, cartoons, preschool shows, teen shows. Nickelodeon was always the popular kid show channel which is mostly based on entertainment. The Sprout channel geared for young children and preschoolers, have more of an education value to them. But childcare specialists alike agree that TV watching can cause a lot of problems and health care concerns. We'll start off by why kids watching TV shows can help your children:

1. From personal experience I have learned to read by watching an educational show like Sesame Street. My 18 month old niece watches the Sprout channel and is now speaking more words then I can even imagine. Preschool shows are great for children cause it helps with development. They learn so much from watching shows that help them read and write as well, playing memory games and even interactive shows.

2. Consistency and comfort-Seeing the same characters and having the same shows on everyday can bring comfort to you child. They can get excited about seeing their favorite TV characters. The Sprout channel every day has the Sunny Side Up show, as well the Good Night Show every night. They have birthday greetings, and well the same characters and shows at the same time throughout the day.

3. Watching TV shows and can bring the family together and spend quality family time, as well bring out a creative child. They can take ideas found on shows such as art projects, games and songs that they have learned and show them to friends and family.
The Drawbacks
Criticism Abound

Critics and Specialist agree that children should not be watching a large amount to television. They agree that it leads to child obesity from the lack of exercise, watching too much TV can give them all sorts of health problems such as poor eyesight, and headaches.

TV can come addictive if not closely monitored. Children will not want to be active or socialize with other children.

For the most part. TV can be good for children if used moderately. I believe that their are more perks for children watching preschool shows, then drawbacks.
