Myth #1: I don't have to worry about my body shape
If you happen to carry extra fat around your mid section, please be aware of the health risks. Several studies show extra fat around the waist has been linked to not only a greater risk of heart disease, diabetes and stroke, but having a gut is also linked to developing hypertension, breathing problems, disability, some cancers and higher mortality rates overall. Do a lot of cardio and monitor caloric intake in a food diary to lose weight around the abdomen, for your health!
Myth #2: Stay away from carbs
Your body needs whole grains and "good carbs" such as those found in green leafy veggies. Carbs are also the primary source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phtyochemicals. Eat natural, dense carbs that take your body time to break down, such as oatmeal, high fiber breads, and apples.
Myth #3: Diet pills will make me skinny
Sorry folks but when it comes to losing weight, the reality is it takes dedication and work. There is no such thing as a "magic bullet." Diet pills can be risky and also end up causing you to gain more weight in the long run. When you starve yourself by consuming less than 1200 calories a day, your fat cell amounts increase in your body. This is your body's way of protecting itself from being starved. With more permanent fat cells you ultimately will get even fatter when you resume normal eating. Steeer clear of diet pills for your own good!
*Note: The best way to keep your weight down is to eat a healthy diet, monitor caloric intake and workout regularly. Make wise, healthful food choices when you eat out as well.
