After a much awaited period, the Atlantic tropics are finally coming awake. In what has been a fairly quite season thus far, things are about to change and already have started. We currently have
Tropical Storm Gabrielle, re-generated and is now moving towards Bermuda, winds are estimated to be around 35kts, with a pressure estimated to be near 1008mb.
Tropical Storm Humberto, developed off the coast of Africa and is on a current West-Northwest track towards the open Atlantic away from the Cape Verde Islands, winds with this are near hurricane strength around 55kts and pressure of 998mb, this storm should become the "First Hurricane of the 2013" Season. Down the road the Eastern US may have to keep an eye on this storm as well, we hope to not see a Sandy repeater, however the potential is there.
A tropical wave near the Yucatan Peninsula is also being watched for possible tropical development, as this feature moves towards the west-northwest and into the Southwest Gulf of Mexico.
This next week we could see a lot of Tropical Development in addition to what we have now, so time is now to prepare for this as the season has awoken.
