The Top Five songs at Active Rock radio remain unchanged

According to data compiled by Mediabase and reported through All Access, the top five most-played songs at the Active Rock radio format did not change between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day 2013.

In addition to the lack of movement on the most-played charts, the impressions chart ranking the most-heard tracks at the formats are also identical to the previous week.

In fact, the only reportable difference is all five songs gain in spins and impressions this week, as compared to each song in the Top Five losing plays the week before.

With many stations relying on automated programming during the holidays, having an unchanged charts this time of year is not unusual. Many artists hold off on releasing and promoting new songs until right after the holidays to ensure they do not get lost in the shuffle as the formats prepare for the beginning of the next year.

Soundgarden’s margin of victory in detections

Soundgarden’s “Been Away Too Long” lead in detections decreases slightly from the previous week. This single’s spin total increased by 53 from the previous week to finish at 1,994.

However, Shinedown’s “Enemies” gained 75 spins compared to the week ending Christmas Day to finish with 1,940 spins. Therefore, Soundgarden’s advantage in total plays has decreased from 74 to 54.

Soundgarden’s lead in impressions

While Soundgarden’s margin of victory in detections decreases, its lead in impressions increases from the week before. “Been Away Too Long” finishes the week with 7,052,000 total listens, which is a result in a gain of 665,000 from the week ending Christmas Day.

The second most-heard song at Active Rock radio, Three Days Grace’s “Chalk Outline,” gains 591,000 impressions over the previous week to end the tracking period with 6,768,000. This means Soundgarden’s lead among the most-heard songs at the Active Rock format increased by 74,000 over the last seven days, and now stands at 284,000.

Too soon to know who finishes on top next week
