It's almost time to bring in the new year with these exciting trends. The American College of Sports Science recently released it's survey of the predicted top fitness trends of 2014.
This survey that has been conducted for the past eight years, is completed by 3,815 health and fitness professionals worldwide. According to ACSM, "experts examine what's hot--and whats not--in the health and fitness industry." The results?
1. High-Intensity Interval Training
HIIT ranks number one on the list, a workout of 30 minutes or less, which involves short bursts of intense activity followed by rest.
Example: Running up and down the stairs for 60 seconds, followed by a short rest period.
2. Body Weight Training
One of the basics of exercise, body weight training involves little or no equipment.
Example: Pushups or pullups
3. Educated and Experienced Fitness Professionals
There are many different organizations that offer certificates and training to Health and Fitness professionals worldwide. ACSM points out that it is important for a professional to hold an accredited certification.
4. Strength Training
Strength training ranks popular among many modern day health clubs, some examples include using weights while working out and body weight resistance.
5. Exercise and Weight Loss
Proper exercise and weight loss programs can go a long way and help you to achieve your goals faster.
6. Personal Training
This field continues to increase, with the modern day awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Health and fitness professionals are there to guide you towards weight loss, nutrition programs, and an overall healthier outlook.
7. Fitness Programs for Older Adults
Health awareness is becoming increasingly popular among the older generation, and some health plans providing coverage for programs like Silver Sneakers.
