The Top 40 in review: #18 / 19 Tony Hoard & Rockin' Rory / Pam Martin & Viva

There are 40 acts ready to perform live for America, and in preparation, 39 articles have been written. These two acts are splitting an article because their strengths, weaknesses, limitations and overall appeal are virtually identical to each other.

Unfortunately for both Tony Hoard and Pam Martin, the most key of these aspects are the weaknesses.

First and foremost, Hoard and Martin themselves are not the performers. Their dogs are what make their entire acts, and the dogs have absolutely no motivation in this competition. They do not even know that they are in a competition, and as such, whether or not the act passes or fails miserably is subject to the whims of the dogs.

More importantly, even if the performance goes off without a hitch, both of them were incredibly limited to begin with. There is very little about these performers that appears professional; one is a frisbee act, the other is a dancing act. There are countless tournaments and competitions for acts such as these across the country; the only thing that makes these two acts special is the fact that they auditioned. There is already very little that these two dog owners can do to impress America further.

It’s unusual that the judges debated whether there could be room for more than one illusionist in the Top 40 and ultimately decided that there was not, but that they did have room for both of these otherwise pointless dog acts. The only logical explanation is that Sharon Osbourne has presumed the rest of America is just as obsessed with small dogs as she is.

Which ties into the third of their problems: Many viewers are upset that these two were included in the Top 40 to begin with.

Osbourne may be right to some degree, but pet acts have a history on AGT of failing to meet expectations, as well as of being voted off in the first round. Many viewers will want these two acts to surpass expectations, but only the most obsessive of all dog-lovers will ever insist that they have done so.

Osbourne may think they are spoiler acts, but truthfully, they rank among the insults instead.

Who is this guy? Does he not know what country we live in? America is the most pet crazy nation in the history of mankind. Check out the #'s about how many Billions with a B, that Americans spend a year. Tony and Rory are one act that American's can actually relate to. Nicely written article but point of view is just wrong and backwards.
