If Carol Lugo is the worst contestant in the Top 40, Chris Allison is the most insulting and Eleisha Miller is the most irritating, Erik & Rickie are the most pointless and boring. Their inclusion among so many other performers in their age group can only be taken as a deliberate attempt by the judges to ham it up to the child spoiler voters (the same people who pushed Kaitlyn Maher into the top ten last year).
As was written of Louis Bar & Laura Cantu during their respective open call in review, dance pairs are agonizing to write about because they are pointless and boring to watch, especially on a stage like AGT’s. It may be fun to pursue as a hobby, but as Sharon Osbourne once said of such an act last year, you could have just as much fun in a sack race.
Just because it’s fun does not mean America wants to see it live on a stage.
The story is no different for Erik & Rickie. Regardless of what they do for their first performance, America will see these two as a pointless waste of space.
In spite of this, Erik & Rickie likely will pass into the Top 20. It has nothing to do with their talent or the act itself and everything to do with Erik & Rickie being iconic. They are very much the son and daughter every materialistic American mother dreams of having.
In other articles, spoiler acts like Kevin Skinner and the Voices of Glory are referred to as establishing a career line, meaning that anyone who wanted to use America’s Got Talent to launch their professional careers would have to finish higher than them in the finals. Erik & Rickie sort of set a similar bar at the other end of the spectrum. Anyone that cannot surpass Erik & Rickie in the finals would do well not to quit their day job.

When I see Erik and Rickie I see discipline,learning,caring, qualities it takes for them to be good citizens as adults. What's with this 'boring' and 'materialistic'? It's wonderful to see young people with these qualities.
